Le Bon Nosh
Our main source of inspiration was simple at its core – the vivid memories of our client. First it was their family’s farm where they were raised in Iran. We took the colours of saffron and pomegranates from this as well as a general ethos of craft and meticulously handmade things. Next was the profound influence French culture has had on their lifestyle and cooking. We talked about the deep blues of the sea in Brittany where they lived and worked after culinary school, and the unwavering attention to quality that French products have. We knew anything in the space needed to be as refined as a pastry in a French patisserie but as wholesome and simple as the local ingredients used. In the end, we imagined a classic Italian or French bar that could see families running in and out of it throughout the day picking up pastries and a coffee in the morning, meeting friends for lunch midday, celebrating milestones at night – it needed to feel like the backdrop for a community. It’s beautiful and elegant because of our joint understanding that everything should be beautiful but it’s functional because it really is a place for everyone.
