Modern Farmhouse
We collaborated with Tim Chappelle and his team at Arcanum Architecture on this contemporary interpretation of a ‘California farmhouse’. The property is comprised of four buildings totaling 16,000 square feet. The client is a young couple with two small children and this is meant to be their main residence and ‘forever home’. They wanted all rooms to fully integrate with the outdoors and be great for entertaining. The house had to be bright and filled with light throughout the day. They also liked a very limited color palette and there were to be no vintage furnishings of any kind. We met this challenge by including reproductions of vintage classics, designing many custom pieces and by expanding our search for, and filling the house with, an extensive collection of commissioned pieces from contemporary artists and artisans from around the world.
