From the Library: A Treasury of Great Recipes

Vincent Price was known mostly as an actor who starred in films like House of Wax, The House on Haunted Hill, and Edward Scissor Hands. His wife Mary Price was mostly known as a costume designer who worked on many midcentury blockbusters. Aside from their storied careers in Hollywood, they were also big travelers, art collectors, food connoisseurs, and dinner hosts.

They traveled the world, visiting restaurants, interviewing chefs, and collecting menus and recipes documenting it all in A Treasury of Great Recipes. The book features many culinary institutions of the time (some of which are still around like Sardis in New York, The Ivy in London, and The Palace Hotel in Madrid) as well as recipes and anecdotes about each city. The book is a rich and creative delight and features illustrations, photography, and graphic design in the form of actual menus that the Prices had collected from all around the world. It’s a time capsule of an era of cuisine and travel that would spark a bit of wanderlust for anyone who lives to eat.
